A dangerous new trend has emerged on TikTok that sees people ignoring safety regulations on Disneyland’s Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is a drop tower ride at the California Adventure theme park at Disneyland in Anaheim.
The Marvel attraction opened in May 2017 and is a re-themed version of the popular Tower of Terror, which is one of many extinct Disney rides.
It’s become a firm favorite at the park, but Disney is now threatening to remove guests following the harmful and foolish trend.

Dangerous Guardian of the Galaxy ride TikTok trend
The TikTok trend, which should not be encouraged, sees people purposely loosening their seatbelts as they ride the roller coaster.
This is reportedly to increase “air-time” during the falling part of the ride and make the whole thing more exhilarating, ABC 7 explains.
However, the challenge is extremely dangerous and unsafe and could result in serious injuries. You should never do something just because it is a TikTok trend.

Disney installs new safety sign
The Disneyland theme park has now added a new sign in the queue to encourage people to follow the correct safety regulations.
“Keep seat belt securely fastened and tight against the waist,” it says. “Failure to follow instructions may result in being asked to leave the park.”
Riders have seatbelts around their legs to stop them from lifting up when the ride drops at 63 km/h and this is a very important safety feature.
TikTok users slam dangerous trend
Most people are shocked that people would even consider taking part in the dangerous challenge and are slamming it in TikTok comments.
One person wrote: “That ride is designed to drop faster than freefall… it baffles me that people would even try to loosen their seatbelts.”
“Best ride! But seriously what are people doing?” said another.
A third person added: “I already get lifted up a lot with the seatbelt on so I’m not about to have it off and almost die.”
“That’s a fun way to get sent to the ER,” commented another.
Someone else said: “Oh hell no. I rode that with my seatbelt fastened and even then I lifted off my seat.”
Disney fans will be excited to hear that a brand new TRON Lightcycle Run ride is in the works and coming to Disney World in Florida in April 2023.
