The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will temporarily close down in the first half of 2023, Disney World has confirmed in a statement.
The Los Angeles-style roller coaster gives visitors the ride of their life while listening to classic tunes from legendary rock band Aerosmith.
But now, the entertainment resort will temporarily shut down the roller coaster. So, why is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closing down?
Why is Disney World’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closing?
Disney World is temporarily closing Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster for a planned refurbishment in the first half of 2023, the park said in a statement.
“Beginning February 20, 2023, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be temporarily closed for refurbishment,” Disney World said in a statement on its website.
The statement continued: “This rocktastic attraction will resume its super-stretch limo rides in summer 2023.”
While Disney hasn’t confirmed an official reopening date, the statement hints that the roller coaster should resume rides in the summer of next year.
Internet reacts to news
Internet users took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the coaster’s refurbishment.
One person wrote: “It’s definitely needed. I wonder if Aerosmith will return or we’ll see some new music infused into the ride.”
Another said: “The ride feels like it needs it, but that’s a long time at a park that already doesn’t have many rides.”
Someone else added: “Wasn’t able to get on it on my last trip to WDW (in 2019!) because it was down maybe an hour after park opening. Hopefully this’ll address the issue that apparently keeps shutting it down!!”
What to know about the coaster
Opened back in July 1999, the roller coaster boasts three inversions, two rollover loops and one corkscrew to Aerosmith’s classic tunes.
The limo taking visitors on the thrilling ride comes with a 125-speaker, 24-subwoofer, 32,000-watt audio system.
The ride includes different Aerosmith hit tunes, including Walk This Way, Dude (Looks Like a Lady), Sweet Emotion and Back in the Saddle.
Moreover, the band’s single Love in an Elevator has been rebranded as Love in a Roller Coaster for this “rocktastic attraction”.
