Jarel Robinson Brown has apologised for calling the clap for Captain Sir Tom Moore “a cult of white British nationalism”, Sky News has reported.
On Wednesday (February 3rd), Prime Minister Boris Johnson encouraged the public to join a national clap for Captain Sir Tom Moore who passed away this week after diagnosed with pneumonia.
Captain Tom became widely recognised in April of 2020 for his fundraising efforts during the coronavirus pandemic when he raised over £30 million for the NHS.
Clergyman Jarel Robinson-Brown received backlash on social media following a now-deleted tweet that he wouldn’t join the clap for Captain Tom.

Jarel Robinson-Brown said that he was sorry for calling the national clap for Captain Tom “a cult of white British nationalism”, Sky News has reported.

Who is Jarel Robinson-Brown?
According to his Instagram profile, Jarel serves as an associate chaplain at King’s College London.
He was born in West London in 1991 and trained for ordination at Wesley House, Cambridge as well as being an Ordinand at Clare College Chapel, according to a bio page.
Jarel studied at the London College of Music and in Paris and previously served as a Methodist Minister in Cardiff before entering the Church of England.
He is also a Vice-Chair at OneBodyOneFaith, a non-profit organisation which “empowers LGBT+ Christians and advocates for change”, according to their Instagram account.
