On Friday, December 23, a jury found rapper Tory Lanez guilty of all charges in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Here’s a look at his parents after his father, Sonstar Peterson, reacted angrily to the verdict.
The 30-year-old rapper pleaded not guilty of shooting Megan. However, after seven hours of deliberation in the last two days following the trial, the jurors found him guilty of all charges.
NBC reports that Lanez was immediately taken into custody after the verdict was announced.

In an interview, Sound City reports that Tory’s father had shared that the Petersons were always an artistic family.
“I rose to the top of my nation as a dancer in Canada. I was on every TV variety special and even did tours,” he said. “I know what it’s like being young. We even did JUNO Awards (an award presented annually to Canada’s music artists and bands).”
Tory’s mother, Luella, was born in the Dutch-Carribean island Curaçao. She later moved to Canada, where she met Sonstar. She passed away when the musician was still young.
Sonstar later married a woman of Kenyan origin, who became Tory’s stepmother.

A look at the rapper’s family
At the age of 11, Lanez discovered his mom had a rare disease that affects four in every one million people around the world. She passed away soon.
In an old interview with Power 95.3, the rapper revealed that his mom Luella had Anaemia, which led to her developing the rare disease.
He shared that losing his mom so early caused him to become a problem child. In his interview, he also noted how he channelled his emotions into music.
In total, Lanez has five siblings from the same mother and father. He also has two half-siblings from Sonstar’s second marriage.

Lanez’s father was enraged by the verdict
NBC reports that Lanez was originally charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The prosecutors later added a third charge – discharging a firearm with gross negligence – in early December.
The rapper has been found guilty of all charges relating to the 2020 incident. He now faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in prison. The guilty verdict could also lead to his deportation to Canada, NBC notes. Lanez won’t be sentenced until January 27.
After the verdict, Lanez’s father made it clear that he did not agree with the decision. Clearly enraged, Sonstar branded it as “the worst miscarriage of justice that this world has ever seen,” as per The Daily Mail.
