The now 27-year-old’s passion for surfing and the ocean started at a young age with the guidance of his father.
In an interview with Tudo Pelo Surf in 2016, Shepardson explained he initially started riding the waves with his dad on the same board.
He later moved to his own board at the age of four and continued to train in his hometown within the North Shore Oʻahu.
By the age of 12, he later started on bigger waves before he developed a love for them across his teens.
