The Year of the Rabbit, which begins with the Lunar New Year, is a year of significant leaps. But how prosperous does the year appear to be for the celebrant this year? For some Lunar New Year predictions for 2023 zodiacs, continue reading.
From the new moon to the full moon, the 15-day Lunar New Year celebrations in China culminate with the Lantern Festival. The celebration of the Year of the Rabbit this year will continue through February 9th, 2024. The Year of the Dragon will then come after this.
Children typically receive red envelopes with money inside as a sign of luck. In an effort to attract positive energy and a fruitful year, many who celebrate also don the Chinese lucky colour of red.
Lunar New Year 2023: Year of The Rabbit
The Rabbit is related to the Earthly brand – They are believed to be clever, passionate, and generous. They’re considered graceful and receivers of luck.
However, some of their negative traits are being over-cautious, sensitive, and superficial. Other negative attributes include being short-tempered and anxious.
For this year, the Rabbit promises a favorable year celebrating fortune and peace despite the challenges encountered.
Because the Year of the Rabbit is so long, there will be two Solar New Years, those being celebrated on February 4, 2023, and the other on February 4, 2024.
How does the Chinese calendar work?
The Chinese calendar, known as sheng xiao, has a six-decade cycle defined by 12 earthy animal totems, as well as the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.
Compared to the Gregorian calendar, the Chinese calendar is Lunisolar (there comes the name of Lunar New Year), meaning it uses both the sun and the moon to mark the years and their zodiac celebrations.
The 12 signs within the Chinese zodiac include Ratt, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
Each animal rules a different set of years, having a 12-year difference between them.
