Kyra Minturn Sedgwick, as she was named at birth, was born on August 19, 1985 in New York City, USA to Henry Dwight Sedgwick and Patricia Rosenwald Sedgwick. Her English father ran a capitalist business venture while her Jewish mother was an educator specializing in speech and family therapy.
