Fans are speculating about Lana Del Rey’s religion as fake rumours swirl on social media that she burned a bible. Is she a Christian / Catholic,?
Lana Del Rey is a hot topic of conversation on TikTok this week. First, she unknowingly became the face of a TikTok ‘cult’ as thousands of users began changing their profile picture to a photo of the Summertime Sadness singer.
Now, she’s being ‘cancelled’ after rumours began spreading on TikTok that she burned a bible and was ‘disrespecting’ religion. However, these rumours are false, Lana never burned a bible.
The bible drama has now got fans questioning the singer’s religion. Is Lana Del Rey Christian?
Is Lana Del Rey Christian?
Elizabeth Grant, better known by her stage name Lana Del Rey, grew up in New York City and has often hinted about her religious upbringing.
She is open about the fact that she used to sing in church and is often seen wearing a cross around her neck, hinting at the fact that she follows Christianity. However, Lana has never actually confirmed whether she identifies as a Christian.
Lana has previously confirmed that she believes in God, and in an interview with The Quietus in 2011, she opened up about her religiousness.
“My understanding of God has come from my own personal experiences,” she said. “Because I was in trouble so many times in New York that if you were me, you would believe in God too.”
“When things get bad enough, your only resort is to lie in bed and start praying. I dunno about congregating once a week in a church and all that, but when I heard there is a divine power you can call on, I did. I suppose my approach to religion is like my approach to music – I take what I want and leave the rest.”
Lana revealed that she doesn’t attend church every week, but she believes in God and definitely follows some form of spirituality.
False rumours say Lana burned a bible
On TikTok, people are ‘cancelling’ Lana Del Rey after false rumours arose that she had burned a bible.
The rumours said that Lana Del Rey was mocking and disrespecting God, and led to a lot of social media backlash.
It is unclear who started the rumours, but they are entirely false. Lana Del Rey does not burn bibles, and it’s just a social media hoax that arose as part of TikTok’s ‘Lana Cult’ trend.
The Lana Cult is taking over TikTok
Over the past few days, a ‘cult’ has emerged surrounding Lana Del Rey called the ‘Lana Cult’. Technically it’s not actually a ‘cult’. Well, not the religious kind anyway. It’s simply a group of people who love Lana Del Rey and want to take over TikTok.
Thousands of people have been changing their TikTok profile picture to an image of Lana Del Rey’s face in front of a big car explosion to signify that they are part of the ‘cult’.
But what do people do in the ‘cult’? Well, nothing really. It’s a pretty pointless trend. It’s just supposed to be a bit of fun and a way for TikTok users to show their support of Lana Del Rey.
