Spotify is plunging further into the social media sphere with a new integration that allows users to add music to BeReal – find out how to add audio to your daily posts.
“It’s time to BeReal!” This has become somewhat of an unavoidable phrase uttered by netizens in the three years since the social media app released. On a daily basis, an alert will go off on your phone followed by a mandatory selfie that should, ideally, show you “being real”.

Now, with the latest Spotify integration, you can also share what you’re listening to the very moment you post your BeReal.
How to add music to your BeReal
It’s relatively straightforward to add your Spotify music to BeReal. First, you will have to connect your accounts by tapping on the music icon that displays before you post a BeReal.
If you can’t see the icon, head to your BeReal settings and select “Music.” This will then give you prompts on how to connect the social media app to Spotify.
Once you’ve connected your accounts, you won’t have to do anything to add music to your BeReal posts. BeReal will automatically include what song or podcast you are listening to, if you are tuned into Spotify at the time you make your daily post. The audio cover art will be presented at the bottom of your camera lens. What friends are listening to will also display and you will be able to listen to a short preview of what track or episode they’ve shared.
Spotify x BeReal release date
On April 19, 2023, Spotify announced in a press release that their new integration would be rolling out this spring. This integration has been in the works for months. Back in February, mobile web developer Alessandro Paluzzi announced that BeReal was working on the technology crossover.
From April 19, select markets will be able to access the new integration which allows you to post Spotify tracks to BeReal. Android and iOS users will be see this feature crop up when they update their apps.
So far the possibility to add music to your BeReal is confirmed in markets across Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and the US, with more regions coming soon.
“We’re proud of this integration within the BeReal platform,” the press release explains. “Combining audio from Spotify with BeReal adds another layer of authentic personalization and connection to your BeReal.”
How to add music to your Instagram posts
While music has been a feature of Instagram Stories and Reels for the past few years, a recent expansion of this allows for Instagrammers to add music to their posts. This means still images as well as videos.
The process is largely the same as it would be for Stories and Reels. You go to upload your Instagram grid post. Once you’ve selected your image and happy with the edits, you can select ‘Add music’. A list of suggested songs will then pop up, or you can search for any track in the Instagram music library.
Use the sliding bar at the bottom of the screen to choose which section of the song you want to play alongside your post. Then hit ‘Share’. You will now have music flowing across your Instagram profile, just like your BeReal.
