Zofia Nasierowski career
At the age of seven, Nasierowski started taking pictures, and four years later, she was showing her work.
Despite the fact that her father was a natural instructor, she continued to pursue her passion at the Faculty of Cinematography at the ód Film School. Roman Polanski and her future spouse were classmates of hers.
Men and women were believed to seem more subdued and romantic in her portrait photographs. When she snapped a picture of the actress Lucyna Winnicka for the “Ekran” magazine’s 1958 cover, she attracted attention.
She was renowned for using lighting to create monochrome photographs that gave her subjects the appearance of movie stars. When they observed her skill in taking her picture, one of her subjects asked her to light her TV studio for her.
One of the first subjects, Nina Andrycz, admitted to Nasierowska that she used a mirror to achieve the proper facial expression.
Although Nasierowska, who was only twenty at the time, thought that some women believed they could improve their appearance while gazing in the mirror, she asserted that this was a mistake.
She photographed Nina Andrycz while letting her use her mirror, however the pictures that were picked for publishing weren’t taken with the mirror.
She joined the Polish photography collective ZPAF (Zwizek Polskich Artystów Fotografików [pl]) in 1956. She was bestowed the “Artiste FIAP” title by the International Federation of Photographic Art as a mark of recognition.
2009 saw the release of Zofia Turowska’s illustrated autobiography.
