Wil Dasovich faced a protracted and difficult battle with his illness after his cancer diagnosis in 2017. Here is what you need to learn about the case.
Dasovich is a television personality, model, and vlogger from the United States. He is most well-known for his YouTube vlogs. He has worked on several television shows, most notably “Pinoy Big Brother.”
Dasovich rose to prominence after videos of him and his father, Steve Dasovich, speaking Swardspeak, or “bekinese,” went viral. He frequently highlights various aspects of Filipino culture he discovers while traveling around the country.
Interestingly, Dasovich and fellow YouTuber Janina Vela were the Philippines’ fastest-growing vloggers in 2016. The duo has created several collaborative videos, the majority of which feature food reviews and interviews with one another.
Later, Dasovich became a contestant in the thirteenth season of “Pinoy Big Brother” after a successful third audition. He was a nominee for every eviction night while he lived in the “Big Brother” house, but he managed to stay in by winning save challenges or receiving the most text votes.
However, he was out of the show after being nominated a fifth time and receiving the second-fewest text votes.
Wil Dasovich Illness: 26-Year-Old Vlogger Is Now Cancer Free
Many fans of vlogger Wil Dasovich were concerned when his illness and battle with cancer were announced. At 26, he was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in August 2017, upending his life as an in-demand vlogger.
Despite his terrifying illness, he continued to make videos “to help others and be a positive example,” he tells INQUIRER.net in an exclusive interview.
The vlogger is known for his easygoing personality and sense of humor. He began with vlogs while learning Filipino and has since decided to focus on travel vlogs, earning him a loyal following of over one million followers on YouTube.
He was so open about the cancer journey that he even revealed that he had his sperm frozen in case the chemotherapy rendered him infertile.
Antics with his “cancer squad,” which included his father Steve, mother Charry, sister Haley, former girlfriend Alodia Gosiengfiao, and friends, were also captured on video while accompanying him to chemo sessions.
He faced moments of uncertainty while undergoing chemotherapy, such as when something unknown was discovered in his lungs midway through his treatment. Viewers saw a distressed Wil, not his usual upbeat, expressive self.
Moreover, Dasovich completed nine cycles of chemotherapy before having the tumor removed surgically. Finally, in February, he declared that the cancer was gone.
Wil was overjoyed when he received the good news from the phone call. According to the medical officer, Wil no longer required further treatment and was declared cancer free.
What Happened To Wil Dasovich?
Early in January 2018, after receiving a stage III colon cancer diagnosis, Wil Dasovic completed his final chemotherapy cycle. He later revealed that he was cancer-free in the early days of February 2018.
As of 2022, Wil is doing fine; recently, he and his rumored girlfriend Carla Humphries seem to be getting closer lately as the Filipino-American vlogger has already introduced the latter to his parents.
During a vlog posted on his YouTube channel on July 16, Dasovich gave his followers a glimpse of his parents’ and Humphries’ meeting in America.
Dasovich first took the actress-model to see his sister Haley, who “approved” of Humphries and called her “amazing.” The couple eventually arrived at his parents’ house, where his mother greeted her with a hug. The four of them then bonded and talked over beers and burritos.
Meanwhile, Dasovich’s ex-girlfriend, cosplay star Alodia Gosiengfiao, confirmed their split in November last year, though the reason for the split is yet unclear. Gosiengfiao is now suspected to be dating entrepreneur Christopher Quimbo.
