Kontji Anthony of Action News 5 has decided to leave the anchor desk after three decades in broadcast journalism and also for two decades in Memphis.
Kontji has dedicated the last 17 years to serving the Mid-South community, sharing your stories, and sharing his love for Memphis and the Mid-South firsthand.
She began her broadcasting career as a host for her high school television station when she was 17 years old. She worked for New York, California, and North Carolina TV stations.

WMC-TV Action News 5 evening co-anchor Kontji Anthony announced that she would not renew her contract when it ended in April in a letter dated March 7.
Anthony says her time at Action News 5 has been improving, but after more than 28 years in the business, “it is the time for me to pursue a new direction.”
Anthony went to work for WCBS in New York as an assignments desk assistant and field producer. She then went to KTVO-TV in Kirksville, Missouri, where she worked as a reporter.
Kontji is a part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the National Association of Black Journalists. He studied at Howard University’s School of Communications.
