After all the bad news of the last two years, there are a few feelgood stories that hit the headlines every now and then. Celebrity weddings may have been missing for a while, but 2022 will see some of our favourite stars say ‘I do’.
From a Kardashian to a legendary footballer’s son, here are the six celebrity couples about to walk down the aisle.
Brooklyn Beckham & Nicola Peltz
They say good things come to those who wait: and Brooklyn and Nicola definitely know the meaning of this expression. The pair were set to get married last year, but COVID restrictions stopped their wedding from going ahead.
Brooklyn, the son of the Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and footballer David Beckham, has repeatedly told the media how eager the couple is to exchange vows, and he’s even started to refer to his fiancée as his ‘wife’ in interviews.
When the wedding does take place, it’s sure to be one of the celebrity events of the year, and it looks like the magazine Vogue will get exclusive rights to feature the event.
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker
The Kourtney/Travis romance has been as fast-paced as one of the latter’s Blink 182 songs. The pair started dating in January 2021, and by October they had announced their engagement to the public.
With a combined net worth reported to be over $100 million, the matrimonial ceremony between these two celebs is unlikely to be cheap. Also, famous guests like Caitlin Jenner, Tom DeLonge and newly created billionaire Kim Kardashian, means that wedding gifts are likely to have the value of lottery jackpots.
The event, which will probably take place in the summer, has already attracted the attention of the world’s press, and could even be screened live.
Britney Spears & Sam Asghari
Britney Spears’ much-publicized battle with her father over her conservatorship is thankfully over, and now the singer can concentrate on settling down with her fiancé Sam Asghari.
This is one marriage, though, that may have already happened. In an Instagram post, Britney referred to Sam as ‘her husband’ already. While a secret marriage may infuriate her legions of fans, perhaps it’s just a way of her taking back control of her life and doing what she wants.
Either way, her fans will be hoping it’s ‘third time lucky’ for Britney. Her previous one to dancer Kevin Federline ended in a divorce, while a judge annulled her marriage to friend Jason Allen Alexander, saying that Britney ‘lacked understanding of her actions’ at the time.
Kate Hudson & Danny Fujikawa
In her role as Liv Lerner in a comedy movie Bride Wars, Kate Hudson learned all about the stresses of modern weddings. She’ll be looking to make the real-life version much less stressful in her matrimony to musician Danny Fujikawa.
The pair had a child together in 2019 and sees marriage as the final step in a lifelong commitment to each other. The ceremony has been in the making for a couple of years, as Kate and Danny are making sure that everything goes according to plan for them and their guests.
Bella Thorne & Benjamin Mascolo
Unlike most actor couples, Bella and Benjamin shot a movie AFTER they got together. The movie, Time is Up, depicts them as two high school seniors with very different personalities. In real life, however, the couple wishes to announce their compatibility by hosting one of the Hollywood weddings of the year.
Benjamin announced the engagement in March last year, posting on Instagram photos of Bella with the ring with a caption saying ‘She said YES’. Bella responded days later with a post saying, ‘You would have said yes too’, perhaps echoing the thoughts of Benjamin’s scores of admiring fans.
While no specific date has been announced yet, it’s thought it will definitely happen before the end of the year.
Joey King and Steven Piet
Steven Piet chose a special day to propose to his film star fiancée Joey King. He popped the question this year on 22nd February, otherwise known as 2/2/22.
Joey immediately accepted and then posted a message confirming her love, saying that she ‘never knew happiness could be so powerful’. Due to the engagement being so recent, no confirmed date has been set yet, but this summer is likely as the couple look to exchange vows quickly.
It promises to be a busy next few years for Joey: her production company All the King’s Horses recently signed a deal with Netflix for an ongoing partnership, making her one of the youngest creatives to sign a deal with the platform.
So, there you have it: 2022’s biggest celebrity weddings. If you’re a fan of any of these couples, make sure you make a note in your diary so you don’t miss their big days!
