Ahead of the Oscars airing this Sunday (March 12, 2023), we take a look at who will be performing Naatu Naatu from the Academy Award-nominated RRR.
Naatu Naatu, a song by Kaala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj, made waves when it was featured in Indian Telugu-language film, RRR. The film, which can currently be viewed on Netflix, released last year. It continues to find success in 2023, as already, RRR has swept up a number of awards at the major ceremonies. In January, RRR was named Best Foreign Language film at the Golden Globes. The film’s featured song, Naatu Naatu, also picked up a Golden Globe.

Naatu Naatu nominated for Best Song at Oscars 2023
Naatu Naatu is one of five songs taken from films nominated at the 95th Academy Awards. While Naatu Naatu has brought joy to film and music lovers the world over, it will be a stiff competition. The RRR song goes up against some of the biggest names in the music industry in one of the most star-studded Best Song categories yet.

- Lift Me Up – Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna and Ryan Coogler
- Hold My Hand – Lady Gaga and BloodPop

- Naatu Naatu – M.M. Keeravaani, Chandrabose, Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj

Who is performing Naatu Naatu at the Oscars?
Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, who performed the original track, will be in Los Angeles to perform Naatu Naatu at the Oscars. The annual awards ceremony is to take place at the Dolby Theatre. This has been the home of the Academy Awards since 2001.
As always, the artists nominated for Best Song will appear for a live performance of their potentially Oscar-winning track.
Not only will Sipligunj and Bhairava be performing, as they share with Rihanna, David Byne, Son Lux, Stephanie Hsu (who is filling in for Mitski), Sofia Carson, and Diane Warren. The only nominated act yet to confirm whether they are performing is Lady Gaga. Gaga, whose performance in A Star Is Born scored her a Best Actress nomination, is up for yet another award for her Top Gun: Maverick hit, Hold My Hand.

Naatu Naatu will be honored by LA dance crews
Sipligunj and Bhairava previously told Variety that they are switching up the performance of Naatu Naatu for the Oscars. They will be joined by singers from India for the performance, but the dance will be carried out by professionals recruited from Hollywood.
Sadly, there will be no Ram Charan or Jr NTR to perform the Naatu Naatu dance at this year’s Oscars.
The 95th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 12. It will be broadcast live in more than 200 territories around the world.
