Authorities stated Saturday that a Manchester Township man got charged with attempted murder and bias intimidation in a series of events in Lakewood and Jackson on Friday that left four people injured in separate incidents.
Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer of Ocean County said a group of law enforcement agencies worked all day and into the night on Friday to identify and apprehend the man in connection with the series of offenses.
According to data from the State Police and the Division on Civil Rights, hate crimes and bias-motivated incidents climbed for the third year in a row in 2021.

Dion Marsh, a 27-year-old man from Manchester township, is accused of committing a carjacking on Martin Luther King Drive and Pine Street, where he approached a 2016 Toyota Camry, assaulted the driver, and fled in the vehicle.
A pedestrian got struck by a dark-colored vehicle at 6 p.m., five hours later, in the neighborhood of Central Avenue and Carlton Avenue, authorities said. On Saturday, the man was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was listed in stable condition.
Lakewood police responded to a stabbing at Pine Circle Drive and Lakewood New Egypt Road at 6:55 p.m. They discovered a guy with a stab wound to his chest. Authorities said the victim was classified in critical but stable condition.
Jackson police responded to a complaint of a pedestrian hit at Galassi Court at 8:20 p.m. Authorities were able to determine that the man was struck by the Toyota seized during the carjacking, according to authorities.

Dion Marsh is charged with three charges of attempted murder, carjacking, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and three counts of bias intimidation.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Lakewood Police Chief Gregory Meyer said that Dion was detained at his home on Friday night.
He was found to be responsible for all four incidents by detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the Lakewood Township Police Department, according to police.
Dion was arrested by detectives from the prosecutor’s office and the Manchester Township Police Department and is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing, authorities said.
