John Ruffo is a wanted fugitive who has been on the run since 1998. Find out more about where John Ruffo is.
John Ruffo, who was born on November 24, 1954, is a former American corporate executive, white-collar criminal, and confidant man who was convicted in 1998 of defrauding various US and international financial firms of more than 350 million dollars.
The scheme is regarded as one of the major instances of financial crime in US history. He has been a wanted criminal ever since and is now on the list of the United States Marshals Service’s 15 Most Wanted Fugitives.
Ruffo refused to turn himself in to the US Marshals Service to commence serving his sentence in November 1998. In the afternoon, he was to arrive, and his image was recorded on CCTV cameras withdrawing money from an ATM (shown), but he has not been seen or heard from since.
Authorities think Ruffo still has access to large international financial resources, which may be assisting him in his capacity to remain off the radar and take on a new identity.
