Devoted Disney+ fans look forward to the end of each week because on each Friday of February Disney bring a new episode of Marvel’s popular WandaVision series.
Each episode is inspired by a different throwback TV programme and previous episodes have paid tribute to; I Love Lucy, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, The Patridge Family, Family Ties and Full House.
However, this week WandaVision fans have been treated to a Malcolm in the Middle inspired episode so read on to find out what people thought!
What Malcolm in the Middle references were in WandaVision?
- Malcolm in the Middle was largely referenced in WandaVision episode 6.
WandaVision is the best at taking legendary sitcoms and paying homage to the throwback shows that everyone knows and loves. Malcolm in the Middle was the theme for this weeks episode; Malcolm in the Middle came to popularity in 2000 but definitely had a 90s aesthetic.
The references to Malcolm in the Middle were obvious from the outset of WandaVision, starting with the opening title sequence. The massive font filling the screen with a vintage home video vibe was similar to that of Malcolm in the Middle. This was overlayed with some loud grunge music and mysteries inside and outside the Hex.
Another element that was similar to Malcolm In The Middle is the involvement of Pietro Maximoff (Evan Peters) along with Billy and Tommy speaking in an ensemble, there definitely was more of a family feel. Moreover, characters often broke the fourth wall and spoke into the camera – another common feature of Malcolm In The Middle.
