Thousands of T-Mobile users are affected by a network outage as of Monday, February 13, 2023, which has resulted in their iPhones being sent to SOS or SOS only mode.
As reports suggest, users are facing difficulties while accessing the network for basic performances such as calls and messages, while others don’t get a single bar of reception.
Thousands of network users reported the issues on Down Detector, followed by a response by T-Mobile network chief Neville Ray citing the possible issues causing disruptions to their services.
What is SOS mode on T-Mobile?
People using iPhones with T-Mobile may find that their devices have been sent into SOS mode, which happens when your mobile phone isn’t connected to the cellular network, but you can still make emergency calls, according to Apple Support.
This feature is only available in Australia, Canada, and the U.S.
The Verge reports, some T-Mobile users were able to restore the network by toggling the airplane mode on and off on their devices. You could give it a try, too.
Sometimes, a similar result is achieved by turning your device off and restarting it. Perhaps, it’s worth a try.
Network outage in 2023 explained
Neville, who announced his retirement from his position only a few hours ago, confirmed the T-Mobile network outage in his most recent tweets.
In the first tweet, he explained the team was “rapidly addressing a 3rd party fiber interruption issue that has intermittently impacted some voice, messaging, and data services in several areas.” and apologized to the thousands of customers for the inconvenience caused.
The issue hasn’t been fixed completely at the time of this writing as in another tweet shared a few minutes ago, the company’s chief said:
“We have seen significant improvement and are operating at near normal levels. Our teams continue to monitor and we greatly appreciate everyone’s patience. We apologize for any impacts this issue may have had for our customers.”

Valentine’s Day plans face hiccups

“T mobile really be saying get off yo phones and spend time with your partner. Happy Valentine’s Day,” wrote another.
A third person wrote: “@TMobile y’all got my girlfriend thinking I’m ignoring her the day before Valentine’s Day?? I’m gonna need reparations for these outages”
“This is @TMobile way of breaking up with everyone before Valentine’s Day,” said another.
