Brooke Shields opens up about recovery
Speaking to People, Brooke opened up about an accident she had in a New York gym back in January this year.
The actress revealed that she fell off from a balance board, flew into the air, which led to breaking her right femur. She said:
“It felt like it was all in slow motion. And then I just started screaming… Sounds came out that I’ve never heard before. I was so afraid I was paralyzed.”
Brooke was in hospital for several weeks and developed a “very serious staph infection” after she went home. She needed an emergency surgery.
“At first they feared it might be MRSA [a type of bacteria resistant to antibiotics],” Brooke explained. “Thank God it wasn’t. If it had been, my doctor said it would have been a race against time. That’s how you can become septic. It seemed unthinkable.”
What is a balance board?
A balance board is a gym equipment that is used for improving someone’s posture and balance while working on their core strength and overall fitness.
Some people choose to use one if they regularly work while standing on their desks as it could help with their postures and burn more calories.
Balance boards help engage more muscles in a workout and can help with lower back pain too.
They come in different sizes and shapes.
How is Brooke Shields now?

Less than a week ago, Brooke shared a picture with author and actress Ali Wentworth and Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and said that she was “thankful” for their support during her recovery.
“Friends are healing,” she captioned her post. “Thankful to have you by my side.”
