Gaige Grosskreutz, the sole survivor of Kyle Rittenhouse’s shooting last year at a tumultuous demonstration in Kenosha, Wisconsin, testified in a critical moment in Rittenhouse’s homicide trial.
Grosskreutz admitted to being armed with a pistol on the evening of August 25, 2020, but said his hands were raised when Rittenhouse pointed his weapon at him, and he was afraid for his life.

On August 25, 2020, Gaige Grosskreutz was shot in the arm during protests against the police death of Jacob Blake. Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, the other two individuals Rittenhouse shot, perished.
Kyle Rittenhouse was an “active shooter,” according to a paramedic who was shot along with two others during protests against racial injustice in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year.
Grosskreutz was asked what he wanted people to remember most about the trial during an interview on ABC News’ “Good Morning America” on Thursday.
Grosskreutz’s remarks come as Rittenhouse faces six charges, including homicide, in connection with the shootings.
On Wednesday, Rittenhouse, 18, testified in his defense, claiming that he shot Rosenbaum, Huber, and Grosskreutz to protect himself from impending violence.

Kyle Rittenhouse was cleared of all counts by a jury in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Friday. However, he was accused of shooting three individuals, two of whom died.
The 12 jurors found him not guilty of killing Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injuring Gaige Grosskreutz, now 27, with an AR-15-type weapon during protests on August 25, 2020, in retaliation for Jacob Blake’s police shooting.
Defense attorneys said Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time, was acting in self-defense.
Rittenhouse, now 18, was also found not guilty of two felony charges of recklessly endangering safety by the jury.
Rittenhouse took the stand in front of the jury and testified that he acted in self-defense.

After approaching Rittenhouse with a firearm, a third man, Gaige Grosskreutz, 28, was shot once in the arm.
Grosskreutz testified at trial that he unintentionally pointed his weapon at Rittenhouse before being shot.
Grosskreutz said at the trial that the unrest in Kenosha on August 25 was one of around 75 protests he had attended. He was a certified paramedic carrying supplies and stated he wanted to help anyone who needed medical help.
Grosskreutz also testified that the night of the incident, his concealed weapon permit for his handgun had expired.
