Apple Music can restrict your music preferences at times with the symbol “E”. Here’s what it means and how to disable it.
Apple Music is one of the most popular music streaming apps around the globe, featuring a massive catalogue of songs from various artists that continues to grow on a regular basis.
If you are a loyal fan of Apple Music, you probably have come across the “E” symbol on some tracks which restrict you from playing content. Here’s what it means and how to get rid of it.
What does the “E” mean in Apple Music?
The symbol “E” visible on particular songs, indicates that the content in question is “Explicit” material, meaning that it is the original version of a song and it can potentially feature profanity, a reference to violence, or strong language.
When you try to play “explicit” content, Apple Music will display a message stating that the song cannot be played due to its rating.
The “E” symbol can be particularly annoying when you are an adult and just want to listen to your favourite artist’s new song, but it is essential for the smooth operation of the platform, and the protection of those underaged.
How to disable “E” on Apple Music
Luckily, there is a way to get rid of the “E” sign on Apple Music and have access to content with no limitations.
When Apple Music displays the restriction notification when you try to play “explicit” content, click on “content restrictions.”
Then, you will be asked to enter your “screen time” passcode to proceed. Once you’ve done that, click on “Music, Podcasts, & News” under “allowed store content.”
Finally, set the preferences showed will be “clean” or “explicit.” Choose “explicit” so that you can play “explicit” content without restrictions.
