If you are an avid internet user you will be no stranger to the plethora of slang words used on social media platforms which have been around since the internet’s conception.
Over the years, the language has evolved, and each new platform has brought with it its own terms and abbreviations.
TikTok, a relatively new app, is the birth place of several slang words and terms, and it appears that the latest is the word “Jordan.”
What does Jordan mean on TikTok?
The word Jordan is being used on TikTok as a substitute for the n slur. It began when a TikToker called Jordan Da Boo told his followers that he would be starting the “biggest inside joke on social media.”
“Today is the big day y’all have been waiting for, today is the day we make the biggest inside joke on social media. And the inside joke is… instead of using the n word use the word Jordan.”
In another now-deleted TikTok, Jordan Da Boo said: “How have people managed to ruin the inside joke already? It hasn’t even been 24 hours yet.”
Twitter responds to the word on “Jordan” TikTok
Many other TikTok users were less than impressed with the “joke” and have taken to Twitter to report that the word had been commented on several black user’s TikTok accounts.
One user tweeted: “Ew white people on TikTok are replacing the n word with ‘Jordan’ and commenting it on black people’s TikToks?”
Vlogger Hank Green also joined in with the discussion, tweeting:
“Intel from TikTok: Jordan: S***ty white kids will call a Black person a ‘jordan.’ Seems to be a slur.”
