But will there be a speech by the Queen this year and what time is it?
What and when is VE Day 2021?
- VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) is on Saturday, May 8th.
May 8th is the day when the Allied forces formally announced the surrender of Germany, which brought the end of the Second World War in Europe.
This day is usually celebrated with parades, street parties and concerts. However, given the current situation most of these events will be virtual and won’t go in-person for a second year in a row.
People are allowed to meet in groups of six with family and friends and socially distanced gatherings are possible if health measures are followed. For more information, here are the current Covid-19 restrictions.
