Matt’s obituary was posted immediately after his death. The community and his family are mourning the fallen Seattle firefighter. People lined up in Mercer Street and gathered at McCaw Hall on Saturday for a tribute to the fallen hero.
Runte was a tailboard firefighter and engineer at the Seattle Fire Department. He grew up in Bothell, Washington, and graduated from Bothell High School. Matt graduated from the University of Baghdad and joined the United States Army.Â
