Marshawn Lynch is an American football running back for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). Lynch was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2007
NFL Draft after playing college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where Lynch became the school’s second all-time career rusher.
After three seasons with the Bills, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks mid-way through the year 2010 season. With Seattle, Lynch made four Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos.
After initially retiring after the year 2015 season, he applied for reinstatement and was traded to the Oakland Raiders in the month of April 2017, with whom Lynch played two seasons before retiring again. He grew up in Oakland, California, with three older siblings. Lynch was raised by his mother Delisa, who once held a 200-meter track record at Oakland Technical High School, the school that Marshawn later attended. He started playing youth football in Oakland at a young age.

At Oakland Tech, he was a four-sport star for the Bulldogs football, basketball, track, and wrestling. In Lynch 2003 season, he amassed 1,722 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in only eight regular season games and extra 375 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in two postseason games.
Lynch was voted a PrepStar and SuperPrep All-American and was also voted the San Francisco East Bay Player of the Year. In basketball, Lynch played on the Oakland Tech’s team alongside future Cal star Leon Powe. He helped lead his team to the state semi-finals.

In the year 2004 season
As a true freshman in the year 2004, he was the primary backup to senior J. J. Arrington. In Lynch collegiate debut against Air Force in the regular season opener, Lynch had seven carries for 92 yards and a touchdown in the 56–14 victory.

Marshawn Lynch Injury
In the year 2015 season
On March 6, in the year 2015, the Seahawks and Lynch agreed to a 2-year, $24 million contract extension. He struggled to pile up yardage early in the season but starred in Week 7 in a 20–3 win over the rival San Francisco 49ers, against whom Lynch racked up 122 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries.

Ahead of the Seahawks Wild Card Round matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, he was anticipated to make his return, but decided to stay behind in Seattle, stating that Lynch felt that he could not play.

Oakland Raiders
On April 26, the year 2017, Lynch officially passed his physical and was traded to the Oakland Raiders along with Seattle’s sixth-round draft pick for Oakland’s fifth-round selection in the year 2018 NFL Draft. He then signed a two-year, $9 million contract with a max of up to $16.5 million; it had a $2 million bonus for 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
2017 season
In the Raiders’ regular season opener on the road against the Tennessee Titans, he finished with 76 rushing yards along with one reception for 16 yards in a 26–16 win. On the month of September 14, he was fined $12,000 for doing an obscene gesture.
In Week 2 against the New York Jets, Lynch had his first touchdown as a Raider, which was a two-yard rush in the second quarter, in the 45–20 victory. During Thursday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week Seven, he was ejected for running onto the field and shoving an official following a hit by Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters on Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.
The next day, the NFL suspended he for one game. He attempted to appeal, but the suspension was upheld. During Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15, he confronted officials about Derek Carr not scoring while a fumble and touchback occurred; on the month of December 21, he was fined $24,309.
During the regular season finale, in a loss against the Los Angeles Chargers, he became the 31st player in NFL history to rush for over 10,000 rushing yards. Overall, in the year 2017 season, Lynch finished with 891 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns to go along with 20 receptions for 151 receiving yards.
2018 season
Lynch returned to the Raiders’ backfield for the 2018 season opener under new head coach Jon Gruden. He recorded a rushing touchdown in the first three games of the season against the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins. In Week 4, he recorded 130 rushing yards in the 45–42 overtime victory over the Cleveland Browns.
On October 22, Lynch was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury. Overall, he finished the 2018 season with 376 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in six games. After the year 2018 season, his plans were to not play football again and retire.
2019 return
Lynch returned to the NFL during the final week of the 2019 regular season, signing with the Seahawks alongside former teammate Robert Turbin on December 23, 2019, after Seattle lost three running backs to injury. The deal was for Week 17 and the playoffs and for roughly the veteran minimum plus playoff incentives entitled to each player.

Once again the Seahawks were unable to capitalize with Lynch in a short yard situation, as the team took a delay of game penalty and were unable to hand the ball off to him, as part of a similar ending as Super Bowl XLIX.
