After moving to Kenya with his family in 1996, he attended Rosslyn Academy, an international Christian school, in Nairobi.
He attended Rosslyn Academy from the fifth grade to high school graduation in 2008 (with the exception of one year spent back in the United States).

Career
Since he was a child, Mark has had an intense interest in eating. When Mark was a kid, his family would take him into the jungles of the Congo, where he would eat anything from berries to insects.
When Mark relocated to Kenya, he enrolled in an international school, which provided him with additional exposure to the cuisines of other countries.
Mark’s desire to learn more about the world and consume better meals intensified during his college years.
He embarked on a South American solo adventure in 2008, just after graduation, with little more than a backpack and a dream. He ended up doing a TESOL certificate course in order to become an English language teacher. He returned to the United States a few months later to celebrate his sister’s nuptials.
In the beginning of 2009, he decided to start a blog throughout this time. Migrationology.com was created with the help of approximately ten cups of coffee per day.
When you visit Migrationology, you’ll get a taste of food from all over the world, from all various civilizations, all at once. In addition to providing mouth-watering recipes, the website also serves as an inspiration for visitors to step outside their comfort zones, create goals, and go after what they’re truly passionate about.
With no intention of staying in Bangkok, Mark booked a one-way ticket and flew there with no plans other than to eat as much as possible.
After six months of backpacking in Southeast Asia, he had spent practically all of his savings. He flew from Manila to Bangkok while he was in the Philippines at the time.
At this moment, he made the decision to look for work teaching English, and he signed a one-year contract to do so very quickly.
However, he found that teaching English was not his calling, despite the fact that it was a rewarding experience.
It was during that year that his personal objective was to never teach again and instead discover a means of making money online so that he could travel (and eat) while also earning money.
In Mark’s spare time, he began a food blog. He and his Arizona-born friend Dwight Turner founded the eatingthaifood blog together.
Mark and Dwight were foodies at heart and spent a lot of time in Thailand sampling the local cuisine. Having a lot of Thai cuisine images, they decided to launch a food blogging website.
Mark would blog and spend every spare time in front of his laptop till his eyes were crossed.
It was after around three years of blogging that Mark published his first e-book, Eating Thai Food Guide. To put it another way: He finally had something to sell on his blog, and it paid off.
He soon realized that blogging alone was not enough for him.
Mark had no idea what he was doing when he started vlogging, but he quickly became a YouTube star. He began blogging about the food he ate while traveling across the world, combining his two passions.
Over 6.7 million followers and more than one billion views will be on Mark Wiens’ YouTube channel by September 2020. On his channel, you’ll find videos about street food, travel, and Thai cuisine. During the week, he uploads films on Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
