Camby spent three seasons with the UMass Minutemen in the NCAA. As a freshman in 1994-95, he helped lead the Minutemen to the NCAA tournament’s semifinals and was awarded the Atlantic 10’s Freshman of the Year.
In the 1995-96 season, he guided UMass to the NCAA Final Four and was also ranked first. Naismith College Player of the Year and John R. Wooden Award winners for the 2013-14 season.
During the 1997 NCAA tournament, Camby was caught taking $28,000 from two sports agents, and as a result, UMass was forced to forfeit their place in the final four and pay a fine of $151,617. Camby later paid the school back the money she borrowed.

In exchange for Charles Oakley, he was traded to the New York Knicks in 1998. When Patrick Ewing was sidelined due to injury, he was given a chance to shine. With the victory over the Indiana Pacers, he made it to the NBA Finals. The San Antonio Spurs beat the New York Knicks in the 1999 NBA finals and won the title.
The Denver Nuggets acquired Camby in a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2002 for forward Antonio McDyess. Up until 2008, he was a Nugget. He guided the Nuggets to the playoffs in 2003-04, but they were knocked out.
Camby was dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers for a second-round choice in the 2010 NBA draft on July 15, 2008, although he was not pleased with the deal this time. They traded him in 2010 to Portland for two players and $1.5 million of cash, which was a bargain for the Clippers at the time. The Houston Rockets acquired him in 2012, and he was later returned to the New York Knicks in 2012.
