Jayson Tatum is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on March 3, 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Tatum attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in Creve Coeur, Missouri, where he was a standout basketball player. He was ranked as one of the top high school basketball players in the country and was named a McDonald’s All-American in 2016.
After graduating from high school, Tatum committed to playing college basketball at Duke University. During his freshman year, he averaged 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, helping lead Duke to the NCAA Tournament.
In 2017, Tatum declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Boston Celtics with the third overall pick. He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, averaging 13.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and earning All-Rookie First Team honors.
Tatum has continued to improve each season, becoming one of the Celtics’ most reliable scorers and a two-time NBA All-Star. He is known for his versatility on the court, with the ability to score from all areas of the floor and play strong defense.
Off the court, Tatum is involved in several charitable organizations, including the St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the Boston Children’s Hospital. He is also a father to his son, Jayson Tatum Jr.
