Over the past day, James Charles has been a hot topic of conversation on social media. First, he shaved his head and then announced that he’s pregnant, all in the space of 24 hours!
Well, he didn’t actually get pregnant, but fans were left very confused after he posted an image with a baby bump. No, James Charles isn’t pregnant! People really need to stop believing everything they see on social media…
James Charles’ pregnancy photo leaves fans confused
On Friday (February 12th), James Charles took to Instagram to post a very unexpected photo. He did a maternity photoshoot, showing off a very realistic looking baby bump and captioned the post: “Surprise”.
James Charles with a baby bump certainly isn’t something you expect to see when you log into Instagram, but judging by the fact he is male, and pregnancy is impossible, the idea that he could actually be pregnant seemed pretty far-fetched.
Nevertheless, speculation that James Charles was pregnant somehow took over social media, and people took to Twitter to try and get some answers.
One fan wrote “why is James Charles pregnant” whilst another said: “My dumb*** really thought James Charles was pregnant.”
No, James Charles obviously isn’t pregnant. So why were photos of James Charles with a baby bump circling social media? Well, it was all for a YouTube video!
It was all part of a YouTube video
At the same time as posting the Instagram photo, James Charles uploaded a video to his YouTube channel titled “24 hours being pregnant” in which he mimicked life as a pregnant person for a whole day.
However, a lot of people obviously hadn’t seen the YouTube video, which is why there was so much confusion surrounding the pregnancy photos on Instagram and Twitter.
In the video, James explained that he and a group of friends were joking that he would never last 24 hours being pregnant. So, he accepted the challenge and attempted a series of tasks to see what it’s really like being pregnant.
He also added a disclaimer, saying: “This video is not being made in any way shape of form to make fun of, to make light of pregnancy and the sensitivities and the complications that come around it.”
Some of the video proceeds will be donated to pregnancy charities
James also revealed during the video that he will be donating a portion of the money he makes from the video to charities that help pregnant women.
“We also thought it would be really important to donate a portion of today’s video proceeds to two different charities helping women through pregnancy complications,” he said.
He didn’t reveal the names of the charities, but fans have expressed support of his decision on social media.
