“Shake for Help” has been a feature of Instagram for a minute now and people are wondering how to turn if off. Here’s everything you need to know about it!
Ever since Facebook bought Instagram in 2012, the app has been regularly uploading its features and policies to provide smooth operation, as the app is daily overflooded with content.
One of the most used features on Instagram is the “Shake for Help,” which is easily activated. Here’s everything you need to know about it!
What is “Shake for Help” on Instagram?
The “Shake” feature is available on Instagram, as well as in other social media apps, including Facebook.
It is used to report a problem, whether that is because something is not functioning properly on the app, or you’re experiencing spam or abuse. You can also use the feature to give general feedback to Instagram.
The “Shake” is very easy to use, so easy that it might end up annoying you, and you want to turn it off because it keeps showing up and interrupting your scrolling.
How to use “Shake for Help” on Instagram
To use the Shake feature all you have to do is shake your phone for a couple seconds while on the Instagram app.
Wherever you’re doing on Instagram, if you shake your phone a box titled “Report a problem” will show up with five options, including cancel.
How to turn off “Shake” on Instagram
If this helpful albeit frequently appearing feature has been annoying you and you feel like turning it off, there is a way to disable it.
Start by opening the Instagram app and shaking your phone. Once the “report a problem” shows up, click on the fourth option named “disable shake.”
Once you click on “disable shake,” the feature should be deactivated. However, if that doesn’t work, try deleting the app and downloading it again.
If again that doesn’t work, shake your phone, click on “something isn’t working,” ask Instagram to turn off the Shake for Help feature and wait for them to get back to you.
