Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight Derek Lewis is a professional mixed-race mixed martial artist from the United States. He made his debut in the year 2009.
The date of Lewis’ birth is 7 February 1985. He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the second oldest of Lewis’ seven children. After moving to Houston in 1988, Lewis began training for a boxing match at the age of 17 but was unable to do so since the gyms were closed.

At school, he was accused of fighting offensively on the road after just two weeks. After two years, he was sentenced to five years in prison for breaching his probation while attending Kilgore College on a full football scholarship, but he only spent three and a half years in prison.

He subsequently began working as a tow truck driver and began boxing again under the guidance of professional fighter George Foreman. Both fighters met in the Octagon on February 20, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 185. Lewis was knocked out in the second round and won the fight. As a result of his achievements, he was awarded the Performance of the Night grant. Following his victory over Blaydes, Lewis is now tied for the most UFC knockouts with Vitor Belfort (regardless of weight class), at 12.
