Actress Cicely Tyson has sadly passed away aged 96 and fans are curious about her children after her memoir made revelations.
Receiving an Academy Award nomination, the actress is best known for her 1972 role in Sounder. Further in her career she also received three Emmy Awards, a SAG award, a Tony Award and an honorary Oscar.

Little is known about Cicely Tyson’s personal life, and she only confirmed her real age at 90. However, we do know that she had one daughter, although it was only revealed in a memoir released days before her death.
According to USA Today, Just As I Am explores details about her daughter’s birth and childhood. Cicely Tyson had daughter Joan Tyson at the age of 17.
The book is dedicated to her daughter: “The one who has paid the greatest price for this gift to all,” while she also writes that they, “continue to work on our relationship, as fragile as it is precious.”
Cicely Tyson was also godmother to some recognised Hollywood children. Rockstar Lenny Kravitz is her godson as she was friends with his mum, Roxie Roker. While she was also godparent to Denzel Washington’s daughter, Katia, and Tyler Perry’s, son Aman.

The actress had a 20-year-long relationship with Jazz legend Miles Davis, albeit on and off. The pair met in 1965 after meeting at Riverside Park. However, it’s reported his addiction issues and infidelity drove them apart.
They later reconnected years on in their 50s and marries at Bill Cosby’s home on Thanksgiving Day in 1981. Ultimately, they divorced years later after his issues became a problem for the marriage once more.
Cicely Tyson’s first marriage was to Kenneth Franklin in 1942, but it ended in 1956.
