Carolyn Clifford Health Scare, Illness, and Health
Clifford went MIA for more than a month from anchoring at WXYZ. She was on medical leave to undergo surgery but kept her followers informed on what is happening to her through her social media. As a mother of three children, she knew she had fibroids but had not known to which extent it had grown inside her. She noticed her belly had swollen when she saw herself on television but ignored it assuming it was as a result of her being a mother and her middle-age spread.
Clifford began facing problems with her bladder and stomach and that is when she reached out to Dr. Shukri David. She underwent an ultrasound which showed she had a fibroid the size of a football and other smaller ones that were to destroy her kidney if not removed
Clifford took it upon herself to explain to her followers on Facebook that she had fibroid tumors growing inside her. She also explained that many middle-aged women have fibroids growing inside them but were not aware of it. She also stated that she would not be leaving WXYZ but only taking a break because of her health situation.
Her surgery was performed by Dr. Nishan Chobanian at the Providence Park Hospital on March 19. She took some time to heal at her home and came back to work on 23rd April 2018. Carolyn was welcomed back to work with a surprise from her colleagues on her first day after her leave.
