He was born Brian Edmund Posehn on July 6, 1966 and grew up in the same city he was born in – Sacramento, California. Posehn is of mixed German and Irish descent.

career
Brian Posehn began acting professionally in 1994. He first started out with guest starring roles on television series, making his debut in an episode of the final season of Empty Nest (1988-1995). Following this, Brian also played a variety of roles on the HBO sketch comedy series, Mr. Show with Bob and David (1995-1998). He later played two different guest roles on News Radio (1995-1999). He then appeared in two episodes of Ray Romano’s comedy show. Everyone Loves Raymond in 1997 and 2001, respectively. Brian later made his film debut as a supporting character in the 1998 film, The Wedding Singer .
Posehn later played the recurring role of Kevin Liotta in Just Shoot Me! (1999-2003). From 2003 to 2009 he portrayed an undertaker in Reno 911! . He also appeared in The Comedians of Comedy documentary in 2005. The same year he portrayed the character of Jimmy in the horror film The Devil Rejects , followed by the role of Randy in Sleeping Dogs Lie (2006). He also released his first comedy album, Life In: Nerd Rage same year.
In 2007, Brian made a guest appearance on NBC’s improv series Thank God You’re Here . He has also acted in several films and TV shows in the same year, including Smiling Face , Undead or Alive and Consequently, Human Giant (2007-2008) and The Sarah Silverman Program (2007-2010). In 2010, Posehn came out with his second (non-musical) comedy album, Furz und Wiener Witze . He also appeared on Sym-Bionic Titan (2010-2011). Brian Posehn later performed on Anger Management from 2012 to 2013 before releasing his third comedy collection, titled The FartistBetween 2013 and 2018 he played the role of Bert Kibbler in The Big Bang Theory .
