Rapper Tame One from the hip-hop group The Artifacts has passed away aged 52 and fans are mourning his death.
The Newark, New Jersey rapper who was born Rahem Brown went by his stage name Tame One.
He is best known for songs like Slick Talkin’, Homage 2 da Bomberz and more. During his active years in the industry Tame worked with groups like The Artifacts, Leak Bros, and The Weathermen.
Tame One of The Artifacts has died at age 52
The rapper and graffiti artist has passed suddenly at 52, his mother announced in a heartbreaking Facebook post as per NJ.com.
The rapper’s mother Darlene Harris Brown wrote, “I can‘t express this any other way. My son, Rahem Brown, Tamer Dizzle, is dead.”
She further revealed his cause of death stating, “The medical examiner says the six pharmaceutical drugs that Trinitas hospital prescribed to him last Friday, combined with the weed he smoked over this weekend…his heart simply gave out.”
The heartbroken mother further said, “the hardest words I will ever post or say is, my son, my heart, is dead.”
Rapper Rah Digga too took to Instagram to mourn the New Jersey artist. She posted a picture of the rapper writing, “I usually don’t race to the internet to post news like this when I’m in the middle of feeling it…but we gonna give this Jersey legend his muth*f***** flowers!! Hold your head.”
A look at the rapper’s career
The New Jersey native rose to prominence as a member of the collective The Artifacts in the early 90s.
The Artifacts consisted of Tame One, El Da Sensei and DJ Kaos. They were both music and graffiti artists. The group’s first album was Between A Rock and a Hard Place in 1994. The album had the iconic 90s song Wrong Side of Da Tracks.
The music video for the song saw the three group members showcasing their graffiti skills.
Some of the group’s other hit songs are C’Mon Wit da Git Down, The Ultimate, Art of Facts and more.
The group split up in 1997 but reunited in 2010.
Besides making music with The Artifacts, Tame One also produced many singles and EPs. His first solo studio album was When Rappers Attack which was released in 2003.

Many fans took to Twitter to mourn and remember the rapper who also went by the name Tamer Dizzle.
“This Tame One news is hurting bad. RIP,” one fan wrote.
“Yooooooooooooooooooooooo Tame One passed away?!?!?!? Tame was one of the most slept-on MCs out of Jers! Nothing but love, peace, and prayers for his soul and his family,” said another shocked fan.
