Actor Anthony Mackie is getting cancelled on social media for an old video of his that has surfaced online. Here’s what is the drama all about.
Cancel culture has taken over the internet in recent years. Several people have tried calling people out for it, but it has not helped stop the trend. Now, Anthony has become the latest target of this trend. Recently, celebrities like Taylor Swift, Eminem, and others had to go through the same.
WHY IS ANTHONY MACKIE CANCELLED?
Anthony is getting cancelled on social media after an old video of his with Wendy Williams surfaced online. Anthony had appeared in an interview for the Wendy Williams Show, and the two spoke about gender roles.
The actor claimed that a woman should make a man a sandwich if he asks them to. “You make Daddy a sandwich,” he responded to Wendy’s question. He went on to justify his answer as he said, “No, no, no! Let me ask you this. If me and you are out, and somebody says something slick to you, you want me to smack him in his mouth, right? So if I take you on a date, and I say, ‘Look baby, we gonna go dutch?’”
Wendy replies with a “no,” and he continued to explain how women should also take on certain roles if men are expected to behave in a certain way. “You better believe it! So you make Daddy a sandwich!… If I’m outside cutting that grass, bring Daddy some lemonade! It’s hot outside and I’m cutting all this grass!” he says during the interview.
TWITTER REACTS ANTHONY’S SANDWICH VIDEO
Social media has been filled with mixed reactions over this video. Many believe that Anthony should be cancelled for his statement. Meanwhile, some decided to make fun of it. Several people tweeted with a video of them making a sandwich in response to Anthony’s comment. Despite this, it looks like the cancel culture has caught up to Anthony.
