However, his role as Santa Clause provided some hiccups to Allen’s illustrious career.
Tim Allen’s Alleged Weight Gain and Loss
Rumors widely spread that Tim Allen had gained a lot of weight during his role as Santa Claus for the first Santa Clause movie.
Pictures of him on set looking more prominent than usual, both in and out of costume, perpetrated these rumors. These pictures caused widespread concern for the actor’s health.
As Santa Claus is a physically big character, many began to wonder if the actor had taken method acting to the next level in his portrayal of Father Christmas. A rumor began to spread that Allen had gained 150 pounds to look the part for the iconic role of father Christmas.
However, even as these rumors kept spreading, no news of the actor’s health deteriorating came about, and soon the rumors remained rumors. After all, gaining that much weight in that short time is bound to cause some health concerns.
Only after the movie came out to much acclaim was it revealed that the actor had been wearing a 35-pound foam latex fat suit the entire time. The fat suit was so convincing that even in pictures of Allen outside of the Santa Clause costume, the color of his skin and the fat suit had mingled, making it seem like it was a part of his body.
Allen’s transformation was aided not only by the fat suit but also by 75 pounds of make-up. Due to poor ventilation, Allen was only allowed to stay in the fat suit and make-up for about six hours.
The fat suit and make-up fooled everyone, from critics to fans, and has since become a big part of the Santa Clause franchise.
Tim Allen’s Work Out Plan
Unlike his on-screen counterpart, Santa Claus, Tim Allen is conscious of his body and overall health.
According to the Home Improvement star, he tried to become a personal trainer before becoming an actor. He has a big passion for fitness and talks about it on his social media.
Allen also released a fitness home movie during the 1980s to share his workout techniques with his fans. He has stated that his workout combines cardio and weight training to stay fit.
Even though he is pushing 70, Allen looks as fit as he did in the 80s. He has talked at length about how much he works out and how important it is.
From his aspirations to be a personal trainer to now having a personal trainer, Allen still keeps fitness at the front of his mind. He has mentioned many times how he does not want to rely on special effects to make himself look slimmer or younger, and judging from how he looks even now, it’s safe to say there is no fear of him ever needing any.
Because of his health and how physically fit he has managed to keep himself, Allen is still a popular household name in America and the world.
