Instagram are reporting issues with the app this week, with many claiming Stories disappear after viewing them.
With over a billion users worldwide, Instagram issues are common and the app often goes down – which is really frustrating.
There can be problems with all kinds of things from messaging to logging in, loading your feed to posting new photos.
The latest malfunction involves Stories. Here’s what’s going on…
Instagram Stories disappear after viewing
Lots of Instagram users are complaining that Stories are disappearing after they’ve been viewed, meaning they are unable to watch them again.
Usually, new Stories appear at the top of your feed with purple rings around them, which signifies you haven’t watched it yet.
Once you’ve viewed it, the Story will stay in the bar at the top of your screen but will move to the end and no longer have a purple ring.
This means you can always re-watch a Story if you want to by scrolling along and finding it, and the Stories bar is never usually empty.
However, after viewing a Story this week, many users are reporting that the bubble disappears, leaving the section white and blank like this:
It’s an Instagram glitch
Instagram hasn’t addressed the disappearing Stories problem, but it appears to be a bug on the social media platform’s side.
The app hasn’t announced any plans to change or update Stories. So, Instagram must have a glitch which is causing Stories to disappear.
Unfortunately, outages are actually really common and there’s annoyingly not much you can do apart from wait for Instagram to fix the bug.
Close the app and check back in a few hours, by which time your Stories should have returned back to normal again.
However, if you’re feeling impatient, find some things that could fix your app in the meantime below.
