One of Nigerians’ favourite street food is corn and pear. Both are seasonal food but whenever they are out, you find sellers everywhere.
Almost everyone wants to eat as much as possible before it goes out of season.
It appears Adams Oshiomhole, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is also a corn lover.
A video trending online shows the former Edo governor getting his own share of the loved street food.
In the video shared by the Twitter handle @Postsubman, Oshiomhole was seen standing in front of a roadside corn seller. Some passersby then approached and circled him, chanting: “Osho baba!”
Oshimhole had a taste of his corn after paying for it.
It is not clear when or where the event took place but the video appears to be recent as some people had face masks on which is one of the safety measures in this period of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
The Edo politician, however, did not have a face mask on, neither did he maintain social distance.
Recall that Oshiomhole had made headlines in 2016 when he and his successor, Governor Godwin Obaseki, chewed roasted corn publicly and smiled for the cameras.
At that time, he was campaigning for Obaseki to be the governor of Edo state. But things have since gone sour between the duo.
Things got so bad that four years after, Obaseki was disqualified from participating in the APC governorship primaries. The governor has since defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he will be fighting to retain his seat as governor.
Oshiomhole is now campaigning for Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is the APC flagbearer in the election scheduled for September 19. Ize-Iyamu who used to be a member of the PDP was Obaseki’s opponent in 2016.
