To deceive gullible victims, I pretended to be a herbalist – Suspect reveals

Adeyemo Mufutau, 26, was detained by the Nigeria Security Defence Corps (NSCDC) for acting as a herbalist and giving spiritual solutions to his naive victims’ problems.

The imposter and his accomplice, 27-year-old Oladehi Hezekiah, are accused of luring their victims over the phone with promises of helping them expand their businesses. Mufutau, who was arrested on Monday in Ile-Ife, claimed he became involved with the fraudulent organization because he was in financial problems.

“I studied furniture after secondary school, but when I couldn’t afford to open my own shop, I turned to illicit enterprises.” Before I learned how to gain money fraudulently through a “Yahoo Yahoo” business, I was in the “Yahoo Yahoo” industry.

I’ve known Hezekiah since boyhood, and we work together in the business. We usually call our victims on the phone and pretend to be an elderly herbalist who can help them with their difficulties.

My last victim wanted her business to grow, so I persuaded her to send money to my account in exchange for a charm that would bring more people to her store,” he explained.
