WWE’s Corey Graves isn’t hesitating in his approach to a fight.
On Wednesday, Graves took to Twitter to respond to a tweet that appeared to criticize his commentary, but did not name him.
Exactly what happened on Twitter is being explained.
On December 7th, Alyssa Marino turned to Twitter to write a lengthy post.

Many fans (including, obviously, Corey himself) were sure that Graves had been singled out for criticism, even though no name was named in the post.
On the subject of women on WWE, Marino drew attention to the treatment given to Carmella in particular.
It’s time to find professional announcers who can convey the tale without being “distracted” by the athletes (especially when it’s women in the ring),” Marino wrote on Twitter.
“I don’t often reveal my thoughts, but I work hard to prepare myself as a broadcaster,” the announcer wrote in response to the post. A great commentary team may elevate a match, but it’s incredibly irritating to hear announcers get distracted by the attractiveness of their competitors during play. (2/2)”
The announcer then followed up the post, writing: “I don’t often share my takes on things, but I work hard to prepare myself as a broadcaster. I’ve studied how great commentary teams can elevate matches, but it’s really grating to hear announcers get lost in how attractive they think competitors are in the midst of a match. (2/2)”
Corey Graves fires back on Twitter
Although not directly addressed by Marino, WWE commentator Corey Graves replied to her tweet the following day.
The announcer further went on to acknowledge that the women he had spoken about was his fiancé Carmella.
“If you can’t differentiate between a TV character and an ACTUAL journalist, then I don’t trust anything you have to say. Good luck.”
User @NormanQ argued: “Responding to criticism regarding how you talk about women by telling a woman that she’s in the wrong line of work probably isn’t a good move but you do you.”
Corey Graves then responded: “Responding to criticism about how I speak ON TV about a CHARACTER portrayed by my ACTUAL fiancé trumps any of your “woke” bullsh*t…but you do you…You’re welcome for the virtue signal boost.”
It looks as though things got a little heated…
Fans react to Twitter drama
Following Corey Graves’ clapback, WWE fans have taken to Twitter to react to the drama.
One person wrote: “Do people still not understand that wwe is a television show and that literally everyone involved with it is playing a character? This is not reality.”
Another tweeted: “This is not UFC … its WWE. Its a show. they are CHARACTERS, there is actual storylines and fake persona. The broadcast team job is not to describe the action on a super technical level n such. Its creating a story and gathering reactions. Guess they do a great job cause it did.”
Somebody else took Marino’s side, writing: “you are one hundred million per cent spot on with this.”
