See What Happened In Sanusi’s Palace After His Dethronement As He May Contest Banishment In Court
Indication has emerged on what happened in the Palace of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who had been having running face off with the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje.
After several efforts to mediate and settle the crisis amicably failed, the last that was heard in the matter was the dethronement of Emir Sanusi by the Kano State Government over continuous disrespect for the Governor and other government agencies among other reasons given.

The state government then appointed the son of the late King, Ado Bayero whom Sanusi succeeded, Aminu Ado Bayero as the 15th Emir of Kano to carry on.

Meanwhile, after Sanusi’s dethronement, his palace was sealed amid heavy security presence. Guests who wanted to visit him were prevented from entering the palace.

See Lin to the video of what happened in the Palace and how Sanusi was driven off:
Meanwhile, the event of Sanusi’s dethronement and banishment have continued to generate reactions from members of the public. Some people who are still young see the development as a new thing to them. Something like that has not happened in this recent time. Older people said it has happened before but cited it happened during the military era when Genaral Sani Abacha dethroned the Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki and banished him to Kaduna State. It happened also during the First Republic when the then Premier of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello deposed the then Emir of Kano, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi I, who is Sanusi’s grandfather. There is a saying that you cannot have two Kings in City could be a reason for banishing the deposed Monarch.

However, there are questions concerning the issue of banishment of Emir Sanusi by the Kano State in this government democratic regime. Many people are asking if the Governor have such powers? Does it not violate the Emirs fundamental human rights?

Throwing more light on this issue at stake, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), said that the banishment would stand only if it was specifically stated in the Kano State emirate law notwithstanding the constitutional right of freedom of movement. He said further that it must be specifically stated in that law that such banishment is permissible.

He went on to add that he feels that Sanusi should challenge such naked display of power and allow the court to decide what happens at last. Adegboruwa advised that with this latest incident, there is the need to protect traditional institutions from political influence.

Sanusi has not made any public statement on these developments. His reaction will go a long way in making members of the public to hear his own side of the story and know his next line of action. Will he challenge the decision of the Kano State Government to dethrone and banish him?

Or will he accept the whole things and resign to fate? His reaction will make people to know his stand on the issues.
