Breaking News: Peter Obi Loses Land in Abuja as Wike Revokes Ownership of 167 Plots

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has seized lands from individuals who didn’t develop them
Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate, had his land in Jabi District of Abuja revoked
Former governor of Cross Rivers State, Liyel Imoke, was also affected
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, revoked Peter Obi’s Jabi District plot and others’ land.
According to Vanguard, Liyel Imoke, Musa Aboki Egu, Hassan Hadejia, and Ishaya Baba also had their land in Maitama District revoked.
The lands of notable individuals including Uffot Joseph Ekaette, Shittu Mohammed, Udoma Udo Udoma, Kanu Agabi, Niki Niki Tobi, Ishaku Bello and others were revoked.
The report revealed that approximately 167 plots of land across various locations such as Maitama, Gudu, Wuye, Katampe, Katampe Extension, Wuse 2, Jabi, Utako, Idu Industrial zone, and Asokoro were revoked.
The FCTA permanent secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, announced on Thursday, September 21, that the lands were revoked due to the allottees’ failure to develop them.
The notice stated:
“The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has, in the exercise of the powers conferred on him under Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978, revoked the underlisted plots with names and titles as reflected in our records for continued contravention of the terms of development of the Right of Occupancy to wit non-development.”
briefing, Wike emphasized his role in rehabilitating Abuja and fixing its damaged infrastructure.
He declared his intentions to reclaim unused land and remove unauthorized structures.
Explanation on Wike’s Accountability Regarding National Assembly
Femi Falana and Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa clarified the powers of the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister.
This came following Senator Ireti Kingibe’s claims that the Minister’s activities are under the national assembly’s supervision.
However, legal experts Falana and Adegboruwa explained that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, solely answers to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
