Whitehouse was born in Stanleytown, Glamorgan in Wales to Anita Whitehouse and Harry Whitehouse.
He first became aware of his gift for mimicking when he was four years old, following the family’s relocation to Enfield, Middlesex.
From the fall of 1976, Whitehouse attended the University of East Anglia, where he befriended Charlie Higson while studying for a degree in development studies.
The couple didn’t spend much time studying during their first year, preferring to play guitar and perform live with their punk rock band, the Right Hand Lovers.
