Robinson’s playing career began with the Kent Second XI. He departed Kent for Leicestershire after the first game of the 2013 campaign before playing for Yorkshire Second XI.

In Second XI cricket, he finished the 2013 season with 59 wickets and 1,282 runs. In July 2013, he made his Yorkshire List A debut against Leicestershire. Robinson and Yorkshire agreed to a professional deal in October 2013.

Robinson played in seven T20 Blast games for Yorkshire in 2014 before being fired by Yorkshire in July for acting unprofessionally, largely due to poor timekeeping.
