Nigerian politicians are to blame for the current unrest and instability. Onochie, the former Nigerian Envoy
Nnamdi Onochie, a former Nigerian ambassador to Algeria and the Philippines and a PDP chieftain, blamed the current political violence and instability in Nigeria on the undemocratic practices of the political elite.

At the same time, Onochie blamed the current wave of political defections from major political parties on Nigeria’s current increased instability.
His regrets also extended to the alleged failure of lawmakers in the National Assembly to enact a law prohibiting those holding political office from changing political parties while in office, insisting that this common and undemocratic practice among political actors calls into question the electoral suitability of Nigeria’s 1999 constitution.
According to Onochie, who recently declared his interest in running for Nigeria’s presidency in 2023 in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday, the nation’s progress and development have been slowed by inequality, a lack of fairness, and the tangle of ethnicity, religion, nepotism, and favoritism built into the current Nigerian setting.
Nevertheless, the presidential hopeful revealed that if elected president, he would reform Nigeria, unite the nation’s people, preserve the national ethos, and also convene a Truth, Peace, and Reconciliation Conference in order to draft a people’s constitution and scrap the 1999 constitution imposed by the military.
If he succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, the ex-Nigerian envoy to Algeria says his administration will use aggressive negotiations to put an end to Boko Haram’s crimes, Sahel-inspired banditry, and religion-based bloodshed.
Nigeria’s unity and coexistence are under threat due to a multitude of challenges and structural imbalances. Onochie emphasized the need for all genuine and patriotic citizens to work together to find the best and most appropriate solutions to these challenges and structural imbalances.
His statement read, “the signs of confusion and political parties’ disarray is already clear as the 2022 Year of Special Conventions approach. Fever-heat defections to other political parties have been heightened, while permutations on convenience and benefits of remaining politically stable or loyal count for nothing. Disarray in the parties have become the precursor to political violence and instability.
The legal instruments for controlling such aberrations of conduct are completely absent. It calls into question the electoral suitability of our 1999 Constitution, including the Amendments to it. There is certainly agreement today about the imperfections of the Constitution of 1999. What is my position as a 2023 PDP Presidential Aspirant?
We will redeem Nigeria through zero corruption and using IT-whistle blowing, to eliminate the malaise and to rapidly prosecute accused persons based on the Rule of Law, and equally zero foreign loans and using Treasury forex for critical raw materials imports and development of infrastructure, and using only domestic funds.”
