Nancy Barrett is an American actress who is best known for her portrayal of Carolyn Stoddard (among other characters) in the 1960s gothic soap opera Dark Shadows.

She is best known for the role of Carolyn Stoddard in the 1960s ABC gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. Nancy appeared on a total of 402 episodes of the series, playing multiple characters in addition to Carolyn Stoddard.
Also, she played the role of 18th-century ancestor Millicent Collins in twenty-five episodes of the series. Barrett played a character named Charity Trask in forty-three episodes during the “1840 Flashback” story-arc. She played Leticia Faye in twenty-one episodes and Melanie Collins in twenty-seven episodes during the 1841 Parallel Time storyline.
Nancy played Faith Coleridge in 1976 on nine episodes of the ABC soap opera Ryan’s Hope. She was the second actress to play the role, the first being Faith Caitlin, who began playing the character with the very first episode. However, Barrett only appeared in nine episodes of the show. Nancy then departed from the series citing that she was unhappy with the role she was playing.
While on Dark Shadows, Barrett appeared in two films based on the series – House of Dark Shadows in 1970 and Night of Dark Shadows in 1971. In April 1971, the series itself was canceled. Barrett appeared in a total of four hundred and five episodes.

Barrett made her ballet debut in a production of The Nutcracker during the holiday season of 1999. As of now, she is in the planning stages of a music CD which she hopes to have completed in early 2003. She attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, for two years where she met Ivan Rider, then a drama professor and later became a director in New York who was the greatest influence on her early years on stage.
After her second year at Baylor, Barrett and two girlfriends spent a summer in Los Angeles. She starred in a production of “Little Mary Sunshine”, and fell in love with Los Angeles. Barrett transferred to UCLA, where she graduated a year later. She then played the lead in L.A., in “The Fantasticks” with Bill Bixby, later the star of TV classics “My Favorite Martian” and “The Incredible Hulk”.
