Shania Twain’s Netflix documentary, Not Just a Girl, sees the singer talking about her split from her ex-husband, Mutt Lange. His first wife was another singer named Stevie Vann.

Shania married her first husband, Robert John “Mutt” Lange, in 1993, and the couple remained together until 2010. Before tying the knot with the “Queen of Country Pop,” the South African music producer was married to Zambian singer, Stevie.

Mutt and Stevie were married for eight years between 1970 and 1978.

Like Mutt’s second wife, Shania, Stevie Vann is also a singer.

On her website, Stevie reveals that she was born in Mufulira, Zambia, in a small African village. She and Mutt met when they were both attending the same school.

The pair married in South Africa and formed a band called Hocus.

Some of Stevie’s popular songs are Without Your Love, I’ll take Your heart and Remember My Name.

After her split with Mutt, Stevie formed a backing group called Bones. She later secured a deal with Planet Records.

Following the deal, two of Stevie’s singles landed in the US top 20 singles charts. Her albums, Hot Summer Nights and The Champ also received widespread acclaim.

She is now involved in vocal coaching and vocal and record production.

Stevie and Mutt sang jingles in their early days as a married couple and budding musicians. The duo spent the nights writing and recording songs as well as playing gigs.

On her website, Mutt Lange’s first wife reveals that the two were offered a UK management deal, and they moved to England soon after.

The two soon released their first single, Right On Running Man.

Mutt became a big music producer and worked with the likes of Shania Twain, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Bryan Adams, Michael Bolton and Britney Spears among other popular names.

Stevie’s website reveals that the two are still best friends.

Shania reveals that in 2008, she learned that her husband, Mutt, was having an affair with her then-close friend and personal assistant, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. The star was still on the heels of recovering from Lyme disease.“In that search to determine what was causing this lack of control with my voice and this change in my voice, I was facing a divorce. My husband leaves me for another woman,” the 56-year-old recalled. “Now, I’m at a whole other low. And I just don’t see any point in going on with a music career.”

The couple, who share a son named Aja, now 20, split up in 2008.

Shania compared the pain of ending her marriage to that of losing both of her parents in a car crash in 1987 at just 22 years of age.
