Kanye West has begged Drake to put their spat aside in order to liberate Larry Hoover, and J Prince has once again stepped in to aid.
But who is J Prince, and how is he connected to Drake? Everything you need to know about him is right here.
Who is J Prince?
James L. Smith, also known as J Prince, is a hip-hop mogul and music promoter.
He is best known as the founder of the Rap-a-Lot record label, which he founded in 1987.
Several musicians, including Z-Ro, Devin the Dude, Do or Die, Geto Boys, and others, have benefited from the hip-hop producer’s assistance.
In 2009, J Prince was instrumental in getting Drake signed to Lil Wayne’s label, Young Money Entertainment. Jas Prince, the producer’s son, discovered Drake on MySpace in 2006.
J Prince has functioned as a mentor to the ‘God’s Plan’ singer since then.
J Prince met with Kanye West to help end beef with Drake
The iconic hip-hop entrepreneur has stepped in once again to assist two artists in putting the dispute behind them.
After Pusha T’s diss single ‘The Story of Adidon’ was released in 2018, J Prince begged Drake to put an end to his feud with fellow rapper Drake.
J Prince said that he met with Ye to support the conclusion of his rivalry with Drake in a series of tweets on Monday (November 8th).
“I met with @kanyewest [last] night in Htown at the Rothko Chapel,” he wrote in one Twitter post. “It wasn’t in my plans to meet him there but I must say I’m glad I didn’t allow a worship place for God to detour our meeting.”
J Prince continued in another tweet: “I met with @kanyewest to pass on the message from my brother Larry Hoover who said he would like to see peace between the two of them [Kanye and Drake]. Ye received this well and said thanks because he never had anyone that sat him down and explained things to him the way I did.”
Ye asked Drake to put the drama behind
Ye is ready to call a halt to his feud with Drake.
In a video released on Monday, he appeared alongside J Prince and requested Drake to perform with him at a concert in an attempt to liberate Larry Hoover.
Larry, the Gangster Disciples’ co-founder, is currently receiving a life term in federal prison.
“I’m making this video to address the ongoing back and forth between myself and Drake,” Ye said in the video. “Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other and it’s time to put it to rest. I’m asking Drake on Dec. 7 to join me on stage as a special guest to share the two biggest albums of the year live in Los Angeles with the ultimate purpose being to free Larry Hoover.
“I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause, but prove to people – everywhere – how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together.”
