Man United to pay 3rd of Ighalo’s 300k-a-week wage as financial details emerge
Man United announced the signing of Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo for a six-month deal from Chinese league side Shanghai Shenhua as the 30-year-old becomes first Nigerian to sign and don the United jersey.
Ighalo completed a dream sensational EPL return after agreeing to terms with the Old Trafford outfits albeit without no option of purchase at the end of the season.
United were in desperate need of a striker who can fill the void for injured Marcus Rashford and Ighalo emerged on their transfer consideration list.
Red Devils have now beaten both Tottenham and West Ham to the signature of the AFCON 2019 Golden Boot winner around 11 pm on Friday, January 31, despite also being linked with Edinson Cavani and Josh King.
30-year-old forward has two years left on his contract with the Chinese side but the mutual agreement with his club has now seen him depart for Old Trafford.
The financial breakdown of the deal has now emerged with Daily Mail reporting that the Theatre of Dreams outfits agreed to pay a third of Ighalo’s wages during his time with them.
This means Ighalo will be paid £100,000 a week while his parent club Shanghai Shenhua will pay the rest of his staggering £300,000-a-week earning.
United, who paid Shanghai Shenhua a loan fee of between £2 million and £4 million, are reported to have opted out of a permanent purchase for the Nigerian star.
Ighalo played 55 league matches for the Hornets, scoring 16 goals and won the monthly best player award in his first season in the English topflight division.
Whats your take guys, do you think Odion Ighalo will do well at Old Trafford
